4.173

「甚深如來藏，而與七識俱，
二種攝受生，智者則遠離。
如鏡像現心，無始習所熏，
如實觀察者，諸事悉無事。
如愚見指月，觀指不觀月，
計著名字者，不見我真實。
心為工伎兒，意如和伎者，
五識為伴侶，妄想觀伎眾。」

"The profound tathāgatagarbha
arises together with the seven consciousnesses;
grasping two kinds [of characteristics], it arises,
[yet] the wise transcend it.
Like images in a mirror appearing in the mind,
perfumed by beginningless habit-energy,
to one who contemplates according to reality,
all things are utterly no-things.
Like a fool looking at a finger pointing to the moon,
who looks at the finger and not at the moon,
those who cling to names
do not see my ultimate truth.
The mind is like an acrobat,
manas is like a jester,
the five consciousnesses are their companions,
and deluded conceptualization is the audience watching the play."
