4.228

剎那生滅者，生死此岸之事也。真常不壞者，涅槃彼岸之理也。然則自此岸而達彼岸，由剎那而究竟真常者，其六度之功乎！大慧所以承是而請問也。

Momentary arising and cessation belongs to this shore of birth and death. True constancy without destruction is the principle of that shore of nirvāṇa. Thus, going from this shore to reach that shore, and proceeding from the momentary to ultimately reach true constancy—is that not the efficacy of the six pāramitās? This is why Mahāmati, following upon this, asked his question.
