4.79

「若使諸世間，觀察鉤鎖者，
一切離鉤鎖，從是得三昧。
癡愛諸業等，是則內鉤鎖，
鑽燧、泥團輪、種子等名外。
若使有他性，而從因緣生，
彼非鉤鎖義，是則不成就。
若生無自性，彼為誰鉤鎖？
展轉相生故，當知因緣義。」

"If the beings of all the world
Observe the chain,
All will be freed from the chain,
And from this attain samādhi.
Ignorance, craving, and various karmas
Are the internal chain;
Fire-drills, lumps of clay and potter's wheels, seeds, and the like are called external.
If there were another nature
Arising from causes and conditions,
That would not be the meaning of the chain,
And it would not be established.
If origination is without intrinsic nature,
For whom would that be a chain?
Because they mutually give rise to one another,
One should know the meaning of causes and conditions."
