The Buddha told Mahāmati: "A bodhisattva mahāsattva who accomplishes four dharmas attains the great skillful means for practitioners. What are the four? They are: skillfully discerning what appears from one's own mind; contemplating external existents as non-existent; being free from the views of arising, abiding, and ceasing; and attaining the excellent joy of pratyātmāryajñāna. This is called a bodhisattva mahāsattva accomplishing four dharmas and attaining the great skillful means for practitioners."
