The Buddha told Mahāmati: "Because of four equalities, the Tathāgata, Arhat, Samyaksambuddha proclaims in the great assembly such words: 'At that time I was Krakucchanda, Kanakamuni, and Kāśyapa Buddha.' What are the four equalities? They are equality of syllables, equality of words, equality of dharmas, and equality of bodies. These are called the four equalities. Because of these four kinds of equality, the Tathāgata, Arhat, Samyaksambuddha proclaims such words in the great assembly."
