At that time, the World-Honoured One said to the Bodhisattva-Mahāsattva Mahāmati: "The common characteristics of the classification of the mind-made body I shall now explain. Listen closely! Listen closely! Reflect upon it well!" Mahāmati said to the Buddha: "Excellent, World-Honoured One! I receive your teaching with reverence." The Buddha told Mahāmati: "There are three kinds of mind-made bodies. What are the three? They are the mind-made body of the bliss of correct absorption in samādhi, the mind-made body of awakening to the svabhāva of the svabhāva of dharmas, and the mind-made body born together with its kind, free from purposive action. A practitioner who thoroughly understands the characteristics of progressive advancement through the first stage and higher attains these three bodies."
