"What is not as it truly is is not like this: as with the svabhāva of things, vikalpa is also not different. If it were different from vikalpa, one would conceptualize and cling to the svabhāva of all things, not seeing quiescence. If one does not see quiescence, one will never be free from vikalpa. Therefore, Mahāmati, seeing signlessness is superior, not seeing signs. Seeing signs is not superior because it is the cause of receiving birth. Mahāmati, in signlessness, vikalpa does not arise, neither occurring nor ceasing; this I call nirvāṇa. Mahāmati, nirvāṇa is seeing in accordance with the true meaning, being free from the previous vikalpa of mind and mental factors, and attaining the Tathāgata's pratyātmāryajñāna; this I call nirvāṇa."
