Second, concerning indicating the matter, there are two senses. This Mount Malaya is situated in the Southern Sea, standing isolated and sheer; hence it is named precipitously insurmountable. Second, at the mountain summit there is a city, devoid of gates or doors on all sides; hence it is named difficult to enter. Not only does the mountain lack an access path, but the city also lacks doors and gates. Only those with supernatural powers who fly through the air and descend into it can take part therein; hence this city is named difficult to enter. The Buddha and the great assembly, responding to the capacities of beings, descended in their traces; hence it is named entering, taking its title from both the persons and the function of the place. Rākṣasas dwell within it, so it is further named terrifying. Being adorned with myriad jewels, it is also called magnificent.
