The grasper and the grasped are also called the grasper-condition and the grasped-condition, referring to the subjective and objective aspects of the consciousness of the mind. Therefore the *Avataṃsaka Sūtra* says: 'By the power of the grasper-condition and grasped-condition, various dharmas arise.' The meaning of the remaining text is that those who wish to comprehend this should be free from restlessness and torpor, all evil discursive thoughts, and cultivate genuinely.
