4.125

義者，諸法實相也。從初地至七地菩薩，觀二乘外道等法俱知不實已，於法無我諸地相義，隨順正觀，故名觀察義禪也。

"Meaning" is the dharmatā of all phenomena. Bodhisattvas from the first bhūmi through the seventh bhūmi, having contemplated the doctrines of the two vehicles, non-Buddhists, and the like, and knowing them all to be unreal, accord with right contemplation regarding the selflessness of phenomena and the meaning of the characteristics of the various bhūmis; hence it is called the dhyāna that investigates the meaning.
