4.82

上雖言離有無等，未知何者是有無？今正出有無法體。言凡夫愚癡，不知是自心量妄習為因之所變現，執著外法為有為無，起四句等見，此是妄計有無體也。下十二喻，況此有無、一異等法，皆不真實，是應遠離。答上願為我說離一異、有無、常無常等所行境界。

Although being free from existence and non-existence was mentioned above, it was not yet known what constitutes existence and non-existence. Now the real essence of existence and non-existence is explicitly presented. This means that foolish ordinary beings do not know that these are manifestations caused by the false habits of their own cittamatra, and they cling to external dharmas as existent or non-existent, generating views such as the four propositions; this is the essence of imaginary existence and non-existence. The twelve analogies below illustrate that these dharmas such as existence and non-existence, identity and difference, are all unreal and should be abandoned. This answers the previous request: 'Please speak to me of the realm traversed that is free from identity and difference, existence and non-existence, permanence and impermanence.'
