鹿逐時焰，況愚樂欲境，言愚癡凡夫亦復如是，合上群獸。無始戲論分別所熏三毒燒心，合上為渴所逼。樂色境界見生住滅，合上於熱時焰而作水想。取內外法，墮一異等執著之中，合上迷惑、馳趣，不知非水。

Deer chasing a seasonal mirage illustrates the foolish delighting in desirable objects. Saying that 'foolish ordinary beings are also like this' matches the herd of beasts above. Being scorched in mind by the three poisons perfumed by beginningless conceptual proliferation and discrimination matches being 'pressed by thirst' above. Delighting in the realm of form and seeing arising, abiding, and cessation matches 'imagining the seasonal heat-mirage to be water' above. Grasping at internal and external dharmas and falling into attachments such as identity and difference matches 'being deluded and running toward it, not knowing it is not water.'
