Contemplating that the five skandhas are unreal like dreams and illusions, with no distinct characteristics of form, feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness combining to form a body, is called breaking the saṅgha. In general, an assemblage is named saṅgha; here the five skandhas are also named saṅgha. Realizing that the five skandhas have no substance, it is accordingly named breaking the saṅgha. Hence the Prajñā[pāramitā] says: "He illuminated and saw that the five skandhas are all empty, crossing over all suffering and distress."
