Differences in the shapes of circumstantial and direct retribution are called transformation of shape; the five aggregates arising, persisting, changing, and ceasing without abiding for a single thought-moment are called transformation of characteristics; asserting that causelessness or wrong causes can generate all dharmas is called transformation of cause; mind arising and objects appearing in mutual correspondence of subject and object is called transformation of conjunction; views of the four lemmas of existence and non-existence are called transformation of views; asserting that produced dharmas are generated from the unmanifest principle (pradhāna), the Sovereign (Īśvara), and so forth, is called transformation of arising; the ceasing of all conditioned dharmas is called transformation of entities; conditions being able to manifest effects is called transformation of the clarity of conditions; differences in dharmas produced by conditions are called transformation of the clarity of what is produced. Because of these nine kinds of transformation, the non-Buddhists give rise to views of existence and non-existence, generating theories of transformation.
