This clarifies that all dharmas are false and without substance, ineffable. Sages, using skillful means to guide and receive sentient beings so as to make them know their unreality, create various speeches. Foolish ordinary beings do not understand, but cling to the words and grasp at meanings, clinging profoundly and densely. The so-called clinging to characteristics, up to clinging to the three vehicles and the one vehicle: such dense clingings are limitless in number; all are non-Buddhists and foolish ordinary sentient beings clinging through their own parikalpa, like a silkworm making a cocoon and binding itself. Using these clingings, they in turn teach others, which is binding others; thus clinging to existence and non-existence, their desire and pleasure are firm and dense, yet they do not realize it.
