The Buddha himself inquires: What are existence and non-existence? What is equality? That is, those foolish people do not understand that all phenomena are false and illusory, and by attaching to existence and non-existence, they become internally and externally confused. If one can understand, existence, non-existence, and parikalpa are originally equal, and marks of confusion will perish on their own. The preceding three and a half verses summarize the Tathāgata's answers to the five objections, concluding and uniting that phenomena have a true and real nature, and that the equality of existence and non-existence can produce the noble fruition; therefore, one should only correspond through personal realization and not engage in false discrimination.
