This means that the real nature of phenomena spoken by the Tathāgata is indeed extraordinary. Those with false discrimination do not awaken to the nature of phenomena in accordance with the real meaning, and thus give rise to all manner of inverted views, clinging to all phenomena as having real intrinsic nature and characteristics; because they do not see the fundamentally serene meaning, they cannot be free from false discrimination. Therefore, the view of signlessness is superior because it serves as the cause for nirvāṇa, unlike the view of signs, where imagining that one has attained non-arising and non-cessation is a cause for taking birth. Realising the absence of nature and characteristics, free from the false discrimination of arising, abiding, changing, and ceasing, serenely and wondrously eternal—this is precisely nirvāṇa.
