8.104

言聲聞、緣覺其實未捨虛偽習氣，即未能轉藏識之名，非真解脫。若無藏識，七識無依、習氣亦滅，乃真解脫。何以故爾？因彼藏識為所依止，及彼相分為所緣，餘識生故。然非外道、二乘境界，以彼無明法執未滅故。

This means that śrāvakas and pratyekabuddhas have not in truth abandoned false habit-energy, meaning that they have not yet been able to transform the name of the storehouse consciousness, and this is not true liberation. Only if the storehouse consciousness is absent, the seven consciousnesses have no support, and habit-energy is also eradicated, is it true liberation. Why is this so? Because with that storehouse consciousness as their support and its objective aspect as their cognitive object, the remaining consciousnesses arise. Yet this is not the realm of non-Buddhists or the two vehicles, because their ignorance and clinging to phenomena have not yet been extinguished.
