8.120

言如來藏識藏受熏持種，變起根身器界，如工伎兒；染污末那，執我法故，如和伎者；前五轉識取塵相資，譬之伴侶；第六意識虛妄了別，類彼觀人。

This means that the tathāgatagarbha-storehouse consciousness, which receives perfuming and holds the seeds, transforming and generating the sense organs, body, and the container world, is like the dancer; the defiled manas, clinging to self and phenomena, is like the accompanying performer; the five front turning consciousnesses, grasping at dust-objects to assist each other, are likened to the companions; the sixth manovijñāna, falsely discerning, is analogous to the spectators.
