Abiding in tathatā means gaining entry into the signless and tranquil realm, transcending the stage of resolute practice and ascending to the Joyous Ground, up until merits are fully perfected, realizing the stage of the Tathāgata in the Akaniṣṭha heaven, and maturing sentient beings. Like the moon in water shining completely and manifesting, innumerable response bodies expound the Dharma as appropriate, their essential nature pure and free from mind, intellect, and consciousness, fulfilling their former vows of the ten inexhaustible phrases—this is called a bodhisattva. Those who practice in accordance with reality such phenomena as the five dharmas attain the Dharmakāya of tathatā; if one does not practice them, one becomes an inverted ordinary person, wandering in the wilderness of the various destinies.
