8.201

言五識取塵與六七識共俱，六識造善惡業相，展轉差別，善惡業習相續不斷，故五識身生。此五識身，亦念念生滅。

This says that the five consciousnesses grasping sense objects operate together with the sixth and seventh consciousnesses; the sixth consciousness creates marks of wholesome and evil karma with successive distinctions, and as the habit-energies of wholesome and evil karma continue without interruption, the five groups of consciousness arise. These five groups of consciousness also arise and cease from thought-moment to thought-moment.
