8.205

言無漏習氣熏如來藏藏識，離念相應，證得聖果，即非剎那。故《起信論》云「得無念者，則知心相生住異滅，以無念等故。」此豈凡愚未曾離念生滅戲論能知耶？

This says that undefiled habit-energy perfuming the tathāgatagarbha, the storehouse consciousness, corresponds to being free from thoughts; realizing the noble fruit is therefore not momentary. Hence the Awakening of Faith says: 'One who attains thoughtlessness knows the arising, abiding, change, and cessation of the marks of mind, because [all are] equal in thoughtlessness.' How could ordinary fools, who have never departed from the conceptual proliferation of arising and ceasing thoughts, know this?
