五識身非流轉，一作「七識不流轉。」言彼七識念念生滅，無自性故，不能流轉六道，亦不知苦樂，亦非涅槃因。

'The five groups of consciousness do not transmigrate'—one reading has 'the seven consciousnesses do not transmigrate.' This says that those seven consciousnesses arise and cease from thought-moment to thought-moment, and being without intrinsic nature, cannot transmigrate through the six realms, nor do they experience suffering and pleasure, nor are they the cause of nirvāṇa.
