8.3

This follows upon the preceding discussion where ordinary beings falsely give rise to views of arising and ceasing, which noble ones do not. That is, non-Buddhists and ordinary beings fail to attain reality as it is, and give rise to false views of impermanence, arising, and ceasing; hence impermanence is spoken of. Noble ones attain the principle of reality as it is, and should not give rise to false views of impermanence, arising, and ceasing. [So he asks:] World-Honoured One! Why do you also say that all conditioned things are impermanent, being dharmas of arising and ceasing? It is not yet known which of these statements is false and which is correct, and furthermore, how many kinds of so-called impermanence are there?
