Language
Classical Chinese

8.70

'Abidings' also refers to the stages (bhūmi). 'Without mental images' means having no existence. Up to the seventh stage, it is collectively named unextinguished cittamatra; from the eighth stage upward, it is named having no existence; from the tenth stage onward, one is only then called a Buddha. Hence it is said: 'These two stages are called abidings; the rest is what I have attained.'
