9.137

今此品經凡六百六十有六偈，重頌經中諸廣義也。如下偈云「涅槃有六，諸色有八，諸蘊及佛各二十四。」此類名數頗多，前諸品內並無文者，即五對義中長無偈有也。其中要義，未見經論及章疏解釋者，不敢臆說，併俟來哲。餘四對中，所未釋者亦爾。

Now, this chapter of the sūtra has a total of six hundred and sixty-six verses, repeating the extensive meanings in the sūtra. As a verse below says: 'Nirvāṇa is of six kinds, matter is of eight kinds, the skandhas and the Buddhas are each twenty-four.' Numerical categories of this kind are quite numerous; that there are none of these texts in the preceding chapters is precisely 'absent in prose and present in verse' among the five pairs of meanings. Among them, essential meanings not yet seen explained in sūtras, treatises, chapters, and commentaries, I dare not speculate on, and await future sages together. What is not yet explained in the remaining four pairs is also like this.
