This says that the Tathāgata, through his supernormal power, again manifested on that mountain manifold, inexhaustible realms of receptive and operative [fruits] as described above, until they vanished and ceased to appear in the sky. It is just as in the Avataṃsaka assembly, when Maitreya snapped his fingers and the doors of the tower opened; after Sudhana entered, he saw within that adorned great tower inexhaustible hundreds of thousands of towers, vast and magnificent like this. Within those inexhaustible hundreds of thousands of towers, each had inexhaustible hundreds of thousands of towers. Before each tower there was a Bodhisattva Maitreya, and before each Bodhisattva Maitreya there was a youth Sudhana, each youth Sudhana joining his palms before Maitreya. Down to his arising from samādhi, when suddenly they were gone. Both of these symbolize the vast, sovereign, unobstructed dharma-realm transcending sentiment and detached from views. That is, Buddhas and sentient beings interpenetrate, pure lands and defiled lands merge, all phenomena mutually adorn each other, and every dust mote fully contains the dharma-realm, mutually entering and mutually identifying, inexhaustible and manifold, causing them to awaken, cultivate, become perfectly illumined, and realize entry.
