This explains that the three vehicles and five lineages together enter the one Buddha Vehicle of the Tathāgata. That is, previously in the provisional teaching of the three vehicles and five lineages, the fixed two vehicles and the icchantikas lacking lineage were not permitted to attain Buddhahood. Now, in the definitive teaching, although there are the distinctions of the three vehicles and five lineages, through newly perfumed habituation, originally there is only the one Buddha Vehicle. Citing one as an example for all, it merely says that once those śrāvakas dwelling in the bliss of samādhi have cultivated and severed the fetters of afflictions, if they can turn their minds to realize the nature of consciousness and see the selflessness of dharmas, they will all ultimately attain the unsurpassed, supreme body of the Tathāgata.
