Internal conditions mean that because ignorance, desire, karma, and the like serve as causes and conditions, the body of the skandhas, dhātus, and āyatanas is produced, and this is called the fruit. This is merely the false vikalpa of foolish common people, each seeing distinctions. This is expounded at length in the 'Examination of Causes and Conditions' chapter of the Madhyamakaśāstra. However, the external transforms from the internal, root and branch subsuming each other into a single pratītyasamutpāda.
