This explains that the non-Buddhists falsely conceptualize the four great elements as producing the created forms. That is to say, their parikalpa conceptualizes the nature of moisture as the water element, which produces the internal and external water realms: internally, blood, sweat, and bodily fluids; externally, rivers, seas, and springs. They conceptualize the nature of burning and maturing as the fire element, which produces the internal and external fire realms: internally, the body's contained warmth; externally, the burning of the ten thousand things. They conceptualize the nature of blowing and motion as the wind element, which produces the internal and external wind realms: internally, the breath and motion; externally, the whistling of all sounds. They conceptualize the nature of material delimitation as the earth element, which produces the internal and external earth realms: internally, skin, flesh, sinews, and bones; externally, plains, wetlands, and hills. Through parikalpa, they conceptualize solidity, moisture, warmth, and motion as existing apart from space. Because of their grasp of erroneous truths, they do not understand that the five skandhas are empty, unreal aggregations and fundamentally devoid of svabhāva, asserting instead that they are produced through the great elements creating form. Therefore, above, the Buddha addressed the bodhisattvas, telling them that they should thoroughly understand this.
