2.79

目連復白佛言：「弟子所生母，得蒙三寶功德之力、眾僧威神之力故。若未來世一切佛弟子，亦應奉盂蘭盆救度現在父母乃至七世父母。可為爾不？」

Maudgalyāyana again addressed the Buddha, saying: "This disciple's birth mother has received the power of merit of the Three Jewels and the power of awe-inspiring authority of the saṅgha. If in future ages all disciples of the Buddha should likewise present Ullambana basins to rescue and deliver present parents and even parents of seven lifetimes, may they do so or not?"
