夫不絕愛欲，即為前境所轉。既為前境所轉，則愛欲習氣依然復生，故使真智蒙蔽，無由證覺矣。

Indeed, if one does not sever craving and desire, one is transformed by the conditions before oneself. Once transformed by external conditions, the latent habits of craving and desire will arise anew, thereby obscuring true wisdom and leaving no way to realize awakening.
