謂我人眾生壽命雖名同諸教，而行相深密，從麁至細展轉難除，故淨業一章重重搜索。

This means that although the self, person, sentient being, and life-span share names with the other teachings, their mental characteristics are deep and subtle, difficult to eliminate step by step from coarse to subtle; therefore the single chapter on Purifying Karmic Hindrances tracks them down through layer upon layer.
