此云妙首，亦云妙吉祥，表信解之智故。亦云妙德，表證智故。文中說本起因地，究真妄以成正解。成就信根，故請問人當此菩薩。

[Mañjuśrī] is translated here as Wondrous Head, and also as Wondrous Auspiciousness, because he symbolizes the wisdom of faith and understanding. He is also called Wondrous Virtue, because he symbolizes realized wisdom. In the text, he speaks of the causal ground of original arising, investigating the true and the false to form correct understanding and accomplish the faculty of faith; therefore, the inquirer corresponds to this bodhisattva.
