The previous faults have already been departed from and the four marks have also been removed, yet in applying the mind to practice, the defects of making, halting, allowing, and ceasing still remain, and enlightenment is not yet universal. Arriving here, the four defects are discerned and selected, the nature of enlightenment is flawless, and it universally enlightens to all defects; hence it falls to this [bodhisattva]. If fully indicated, it universally enlightens to root and branch, universally enlightens to coarse and subtle, and universally enlightens to shallow and deep.
