自下大段，第二令依解修行，隨根證入。謂創因法鏡照心，頓能信解，至於長久修證，則節級不同。良以障有淺深，根有利鈍，習氣厚薄，心行依違，故須處處隨根引令得出。然其修證階降雖殊，必籍本因，故云依解。前則信解，此則行證，故《華嚴》一部亦唯此四矣。

From here begins the second major section: causing one to cultivate practice based on understanding and to realize and enter in accordance with one's faculties. This means that although initially, through the mirror of the Dharma illuminating the mind, one can suddenly believe and understand, when it comes to prolonged cultivation and realization, the stages differ. Because hindrances vary in shallowness and depth, faculties vary in sharpness and dullness, residual habit-energy varies in thickness and thinness, and mental practices comply or conflict, one must guide them according to their faculties everywhere to bring about liberation. Yet although the gradations of cultivation and realization differ, they necessarily rely on the fundamental cause; hence it is called "based on understanding." The preceding was faith and understanding; this is practice and realization; thus the entire Huayan is also nothing other than these four.
