Although it speaks of polishing the mirror, it is actually polishing away the dust. What is called cultivating the Path is merely dispelling delusion. Now, the nature of the mirror is fundamentally luminous, not obtained from outside; when dust covers it, it is obscured, and when polished, it is revealed. Although obscured and revealed differ, the luminous nature does not vary. Here, the grasping at persons and grasping at dharmas are the grime; investigative and realistic contemplations are the polishing; the true mind of original enlightenment is the clarity; and the two kinds of emptiness of persons and dharmas are the appearing.
