此上先說迹之所以然，其迹也相躡而起，亦相躡而拂本。以眾生妄執幻化故，佛說云幻垢，眾生依教離垢故，復說名菩薩。此下正拂其迹云。

Above, he first explained why the traces are as they are: these traces arise following one upon another, and are also swept away following one upon another. Because sentient beings falsely grasp at illusions, the Buddha spoke of them as illusory grime; because sentient beings rely on the teaching to leave behind grime, they are further named bodhisattvas. Below, he directly sweeps away those traces, saying:
