然如來唯一諸法實相智力，此力有十種用，故說為十。總名力者，能摧怨敵故、不可屈伏故。一知是處非處，謂總知一切諸法因緣果報，則降伏無因、惡因，知人可度不可；二知過、現、未來善等三種業，及順現等三報，知所度有障、無障；三知諸禪解脫三昧垢淨，及知依此所得諸果；四知信等五根上、中、下；五知種種欲樂，令捨不淨增淨；六知一三五乘貪、瞋、癡等種種性欲，知即時、異時，誰可度、不可等；七知一切道至處；八知宿住；九知死此生彼，即天眼智也，獨此從所依得名；十知自解脫無疑，亦知眾生漏盡涅槃。然佛力無量，度人因緣故但說十，足辨其事。

However, the Tathāgata has only a single power of wisdom into the true mark of all dharmas; this power has ten kinds of functions, and so is explained as ten. They are generally named 'powers' because they can crush enemies and cannot be subjugated. First, knowing what is possible and impossible: that is, completely knowing the causes, conditions, fruits, and retributions of all dharmas, thereby subjugating [views of] causelessness and wrong causes, and knowing whether a person can be liberated or not; second, knowing the three kinds of karmas—wholesome and so forth—of the past, present, and future, as well as the three retributions such as retribution experienced in the present life, knowing whether those to be liberated have hindrances or lack hindrances; third, knowing the defilement and purity of all dhyānas, liberations, and samādhis, and knowing the various fruits obtained in reliance upon them; fourth, knowing the superior, middling, and inferior grades of the five faculties such as faith; fifth, knowing various inclinations and aspirations, causing them to abandon impurity and increase purity; sixth, knowing the various natures and desires, such as greed, anger, and ignorance, of the one, three, or five vehicles, knowing who can be liberated immediately or at a different time, and who cannot be, etc.; seventh, knowing the destinations of all paths; eighth, knowing past lives; ninth, knowing death here and rebirth there, which is precisely the divine eye wisdom, and this alone takes its name from its basis; tenth, knowing one's own liberation without doubt, and also knowing the extinction of outpourings and nirvāṇa of sentient beings. Although the Buddha's powers are limitless, because of the causes and conditions of liberating people, only ten are spoken of, which is sufficient to manage the task.
