All characteristics are false and deluded because they arise from conditions. Integrating conditions to enter reality is dharmatā; therefore the *Mahāprajñāpāramitopadeśa* says: 'Illuminating form and the rest as empty is named dharmatā. The real principle of nature-emptiness is free from inversion, not false; seeing emptiness in emptiness is also called an inversion, while having no attachment to emptiness is the real dharma. That which is dharmatā is non-characteristic; therefore the Tathāgata names it dharmatā, unchanging and unaltering, ultimately eternal.' The *Sūtra of Immeasurable Meanings* says: 'Thus signlessness is not non-sign; non-sign is signlessness; this is called dharmatā.'
