Just as the light of one lamp has already filled a room, if there is another lamp, its light is also completely full. Each of the lights of a hundred thousand lamps is like this: they neither destroy one another, nor are they muddled and mixed. The space in the room is an analogy for the dharmadhātu; the marks of light of the lamps are an analogy for the faculties and sense objects. That is to say, the light of one lamp contains multiple marks of light, and one mark of light pervades multiple lights; each is like this, layer upon layer without end. The phenomenal factors of the preceding seven sections can each be seen by analogy with this: "all-pervading containment"—is it not precisely this? The reason for this is that they are manifested solely by the true mind, all being like illusions, dreams, and reflections; hence they are neither identical to nor different from the nature relied upon. Therefore, they can pervade the many while entering into one, and subsume the one while containing the many.
