Designating and pointing out. Being well versed in the nature of enlightenment as not produced through cultivation, decisive and without doubt, is called "correct views." The Dharmapada says: "Being well versed in the profound Dharmas of emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness, without arising and without ceasing, and thoroughly understanding that all phenomena are from the beginning ultimately equal, without karma and without retribution, without cause and without effect, their nature and marks being tathatā, abiding in the limit of reality, yet brilliantly establishing [practices] within ultimate emptiness—this is called a true spiritual friend." The Kusuma-saṃcaya Sūtra says: "One who possesses four dharmas should be known as a good spiritual friend: namely, being well skilled in teaching and transforming, cultivating the path, and knowing faults and dangers."
