或為利益，或有別緣，所作非儀，暫乖真教，秖得貶己承非，不得飾非說理，以誤凡下。此乃不同邪人，自造諸過，復說非梵行事為其真實，令無量人墮大險趣。但為同事攝故，雖現諸過，常須讚歎真實梵行，故《論》云：「壞見之人雖不壞行，不堪與眾生為其道眼。雖壞行而不破見者，是則人天真勝福田。」

Whether for benefit or due to other conditions, if what is done departs from proper deportment and temporarily diverges from the true teaching, one must only humble oneself and admit the wrong; one must not gloss over the fault and preach it as principle, thereby misleading ordinary people. This is unlike mistaken people who commit faults themselves and further teach non-chaste matters as the truth, causing countless people to fall into great perilous destinies. Solely for the sake of gathering them through shared actions, though showing faults, one must always praise true pure conduct. Therefore the Śāstra says: "A person of broken views, even if not of broken conduct, is unfit to be an eye of the Path for sentient beings; one who has broken conduct but has not broken views is a true, superior field of merit for humans and devas."
