Enlightenment is fundamentally without thought; regarding thoughts [as real] is already a deviation. The nature is fundamentally spiritually luminous; being confused about illumination is also a loss. When thoughts, though non-existent, arise, they are stopped to make them non-existent; when illumination, though present, is hidden, why not observe it to make it manifest? Furthermore, the real is fundamentally without thought; since thoughts deviate from the real, and the nature is fundamentally without stopping, stopping also opposes the nature. Therefore it says 'not something joined by stopping'. Thus it was said earlier: 'Toward all delusive minds, one also does not extinguish them.'
