2.1099

或欲除慢、或遇異緣，相去相離，便生瞋恨。云疎我親彼，說愛說憎。既一念瞋，百萬障起，非論失道，亦墮三途，故此令斷。《論語》云：「唯女子與小人為難養也！近之則不遜，遠之又怨。」怨則此瞋恨也，不遜則此憍慢也。

Whether wishing to remove arrogance or encountering different conditions, when they separate and depart, resentment easily arises, saying, 'They neglect me and favor that person,' speaking of affection and hatred. Once a single thought of anger arises, a million obstacles flare up; not only does one lose the path, but one also falls into the three destinies. Hence this is ordered to be severed. The Analects states: 'Only women and petty people are hard to support: if you are familiar with them, they become impudent; if you keep them at a distance, they harbor resentment.' Resentment is this anger and hatred; impudence is this arrogance.
