2.1110

自他憎愛前已頻明，今復說者，是種子故、是入道微細病故、由此種子難契圓明故。隨所聞法門，即生心作意、捨此取彼，憎妄愛真，難忘能所，故後能治云「即除諸病。現行麁而易覺，種子細而難明。」故偏指也。

Love and hate toward self and other have been clarified frequently before; the reason they are stated again here is that they are seeds, they are subtle defects in entering the path, and because of these seeds it is difficult to tally with the perfect luminescence. According with whatever Dharma gate is heard, one instantly gives rise to mind and deliberate effort, discarding this and taking that, hating falsehood and loving truth, finding it hard to forget subject and object. Therefore the subsequent antidote says, 'immediately eliminating all defects.' Active manifestations are coarse and easily noticed; seeds are subtle and hard to discern. Thus they are specifically pointed out.
