2.1267

願者，希求欲樂之義。眾生無始已來念念希欲五塵之境，今已了悟，故發心念念希欲悲、智、六度等境。熏心成習，故云種也。

'Vows' has the meaning of seeking and yearning. Sentient beings from beginningless time have in every thought longed for and desired the realms of the five sense-objects. Having now attained awakening, they give rise to the mind in every thought longing for and desiring the realms of compassion, wisdom, the six pāramitās, and so forth. Perfuming the mind forms habits, hence it is called 'seeds'.
