Earlier it said that this is the pure ground of enlightenment of all sentient beings, and it also spoke of avidyā, craving, the four marks, and the four defects. Now, when it says that it reveals only the Tathāgata's realm, the next sentence explains this itself. Because only the Buddha can expound it, he explains that avidyā and the rest are all non-existent, which is precisely the Buddha's realm. If the Buddha's realm were not revealed, how could sentient beings all be empty? If sentient beings were not empty, how could they thoroughly reach the ground of enlightenment? Thus in the Huayan, even the faith stages are the profound Buddha's realm; though wisdom and conceptual knowledge differ, both are the Buddha's realm—this is the meaning.
