亦是所為不隨情逐念，但依願力而自策勵，如前悲中所說。願是總相，通悲、通智，故二段中皆說願力，具悲、智願即菩提心。

This also means that what one does does not follow personal sentiments or pursue wandering thoughts, but relies only on vow-power to encourage oneself, as explained above under compassion. A vow is a general characteristic that pervades both compassion and wisdom; hence in both sections vow-power is spoken of. A vow possessing both compassion and wisdom is bodhicitta itself.
