2.255

慧照朗然，顯發心性，無始妄習一時悟現，如寤時覺夢。然迷時即起滅，妄念是我，故妄念不自見於妄念，如眼不自見。今既開悟，心冥真覺，不以妄念為我，故以冥真之慧照於起滅之念，起之與滅念念皆知，翻前曾不自知念念生滅。

When the illumination of wisdom is radiant, it reveals and develops the mind-nature; the beginningless habitual delusive tendencies are all at once awakened and revealed, like awakening from a dream. However, when one was deluded, [one took] arising and ceasing and false thoughts to be the self, so false thoughts could not see themselves within false thoughts, just as an eye cannot see itself. Now that one has awakened, the mind is fused with true enlightenment and no longer takes false thoughts to be the self; therefore, with wisdom that is fused with the real, one illuminates thoughts of arising and ceasing, knowing thought by thought each arising and ceasing, which reverses the previous "never knowing that it arises and ceases thought by thought."
